Design for Manufacture

Our design for manufacture is optimised to minimise off-cut waste material and excess processing time.

Whilst our prototyping production facility uses a biomass plant to convert wood chip and sawdust waste, to supply the building's entire heating and hot water.

Waste Management - Off cuts are either reused as parts for other products, or donated to other designer-makers for a second life.

 

Circular Design

Have you ever seen inside a sofa?

They are notoriously impossible and bulky to dismantle and recycle properly.

For us, manufacturing is about creating products that no longer have a lifecycle with a beginning, a middle and an end - in quantities we can handle.

Should you wish to say goodbye to your sofa, our design for disassembly has been selected so that all materials and components can easily get a second chance at life, and can be widely recycled.

Easy design for disassembly also allows for straightforward recycling and repair.

Unlike many mass produced sofas.

 

Responsible Materials

Manufactured from dense high quality and traceable and sustainably manafed FSC certified hardwood ply species. It’s consistent strength, and a first-class fine grain finish for easy aftercare.

About FSC - The FSC certification system allow you to purchase wood-based material products safe in the knowledge that they have been sensibly and sustainably managed all along the supply path, from when the tree was cut down from the forest, right to the point they arrive with you.
